Trekking Siroua range
Itinerary: 9 Days
Season: From February to June
Level: Easy. All levels and ages. Walking 5 to 7 hours daily.
The Djebel Siroua is the geological continuation of the Djebel Sarho.
Very high elevation volcanic mass, it offers chaotic and rugged sceneries, interspersed with large and grassy valleys. Houses made of dried stones are surrounded by terraced gardens where saffron is grown.
Assistance and transfer to hotel.
Transfer with 4x4 reaching the road pass of Tichka, then crossing Anezal village. Camping in Tamelakout, a small oasis nestled in the heart of the valley. Meeting with our mule driving team.
Traverse the village of Tamazikht and an undulating plateau near the village of Aït Tizouad. After lunch, continue across several plateaux and then arrive in the village of Aït Tizouad. Here we will visit an old co-op corn elevator. Night in a gite.
Crossing of the village of Aït Tigga (saffron cultivation), we will continue towards the Berber villages of Idoughrar, Aït Ighmour and Tinalimt. Then, after crossing a plateau, we will have lunch at the Mamt Pass. There is an unobstructed view over the Toubkal, Sarho, and Djebel Bani ranges. Then, we will go down in the direction of Azib M'Dist, the location of the campground which is near a sheepfold along the riverside.
Climb up the Siroua (3305m), via a path between several rocky peaks. Walk down between the two famous Tikniwine (twin peaks) to reach sheepfolds of Azib Iriri. Campground in Iriri.
Walking down the Talat N' Oudid plateau under the range of Amzdour (3200m), then a crossing of Hamda Immaghan walking down the Irir ‘wadi’. Beautiful view of the ranges of Siroua and Toubkal. Arrival at Tachakcht village where saffron is cultivated in terraced gardens. Bivouac.
Departure from Tachakcht to reach the village of Tamazikht. There we will reach Anezal by local transport. Night in the small inn of Anezal.
Journey back to Marrakech.
Transfer to airport and assistance.
