Trekking Toubkal range
Level : Everyone in good health. Season : Mid april to mid october.
Difficulty : From 5 to 7 hours hiking per day.
Djebel Toubkal (4167 m), the summit of North Africa, is surrounded by gigantic foothills, bordered in the West by wadi N’Fis and in the East by the Ourika valley. It is an old mountain range of dark High Atlas made of Marrakech granite, with crystalline rocks, and dense and high rock formations. This imposing mountain mass is reachable only on foot. That is why we propose hikes that follow ancestral mule tracks, permitting us to reach this granite fortress covered with vertical rock faces, where cubic house villages are concealed within green valleys. It is typically an alluring mountain offering hospitality and sincerity. The hiker will be surprised by the cheerfulness and kindness of its inhabitants. For this range, we propose "personalized tour".
Summit of Toubkal (4167 m) in 3 days for these who are limited in time, but still want to conquer Maghreb's and North Africa's peak. You will cross two Berber villages and discover a ‘marabout’. Camping is allowed near the Toubkal's hut.
Summit of Toubkal (4167 m) and other valleys with journeys varying from 4 to 8 days. Here you will find well populated Berber villages, built on the river-side, on hills or crests, even on cliffs. You will fall under the spell of imposing landscapes, panoramic views of the High Atlas, the desert, the Siroua range, high-altitude lakes and high plateaus. You will cross splendid mountain passes and discover lonely shepherds. For these looking for easier and less strenuous trips, we can propose “à la carte” itineraries from 4 to 8 days with minimal changes in altitude. You can discover protected nature areas and have a true holiday connecting with nature. Possibility to sleep in ‘gites’ or camping in prime locations.
The « Great High Atlas Traverse » 17 or 18 day hike. The itinerary extends from the Central High Atlas
to the Western High Atlas. We will pass near large waterfalls and discover the “Aït Bougmmez Valley”
(Happy Valley) and “Imlil Valley” (the local Chamonix). The itinerary consists of 256 km of hikes on high plateaus with high altitude lakes. You can see rock drawings, “kasbahs”, and very old Berber villages.
We can ascend M’Goun peak (4068 m) and Toubkal peak (4167 m). Nightly accommodations are
provided, according to the itinerary, by local people, in gites or in campgounds.
